Dive into our engaging virtual professional development (VPD) micro-credentials that are tailored to deliver targeted strategies to empower administrators, school leaders, and teachers to enhance and turnaround schools. Accessible anytime, anywhere, our modules discuss best practices and provide opportunities to enhance your leadership abilities and drive positive change within your school community.  These micro-credentials are developed by the Texas A&M Educational Leadership Research Center (ELRC), with funding provided through a grant from Education Innovation and Research (EIR), the U.S. Department of Education.

Module 1: Development of Teacher Growth Plans

 

  • Understand the characteristics of adult learning.
  • Define teacher growth plans (TGPs). 
  • Explore the benefits of TGPs in schools.
  • Examine how to develop and implement TGPs on your campus.

Module 2: Beyond Pleasant Facades: Fostering Honest Feedback in PLCs

 

  • Examine the prevailing culture of nice in PLCs.
  • Recognize the challenges of offering feedback and common pitfalls leaders encounter.
  • Apply effective feedback techniques.
  • Cultivate a culture of growth in your PLCs. 

Module 3: Assessing Teacher Growth and Reporting Progress

 

  • Examine videos as assessment tools.
  • Evaluate the impact of coaching on educator professional development and growth.
  • Understand how providing meaningful feedback can be used to report teacher progress.

Module 4: Effective Instructional Coaching

 

  • Define instructional coaching.
  • Explore the roles and responsibilities of instructional coaches.
  • Discover the benefits and challenges of implementing instructional coaching.

Module 5: How to Coach Teachers in High-Needs Schools

 

  • Understand the critical elements of an effective coaching process model.
  • Learn effective techniques to enable you to coach and develop teachers in high-need schools.
  • Develop skills to foster continuous professional growth in teachers.

This is a five-module micro-credential that awards a certificate worth five continuing professional development units/hours (CPUs) upon completion.
